This collection, Connector-fragments, is a series of multimedia works. Under the well-trained hand of one of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary artists, the brand new works explore the aesthetic potential of drypoint and watercolour monotype techniques used in unison. The series also comprises small paintings, which compliment and extend upon the technical developments of Fox’s large-scale prints. Conceptually, Connector-fragments investigates balance and dependency through abstracted line networks. Forms are leaning, transforming, morphing into one another. Delicate balancing acts are performed like circus stunts, a melancholic, yet organic energy pervades the works as each group holds its own ‘bundle’ or ‘burden’. They are all interconnected, yet the whole series could all tumble down with one push… the work is a metaphor for the precarious and anxious times we live in.
