TREMBLING LIPS ECHOED
My work employs strategies of deconstruction and reconstruction of books, photographs and text to recreate a new text. I am interested in the moment of stillness between the in-breath and the out-breath of the body, the trace the body leaves behind, where endings and beginnings merge in both directions. The story of both intertwined.
The multi-layered processes that I predominately use are photographic and traditional printmaking techniques. These are often combined with elements of external seams of thread and frayed fabric.
To celebrate the opening of Oakes solo exhibition, it is with great pleasure that we invite you to an afternoon with the artist. Join us in the gallery from 2-4PM Saturday 1st April for an informal conversation about her work and creative practice.
